General License Class scheduled

The Williamsburg Amateur Radio club will be teaching an Amateur Radio General License class from March 4 – April 18. The class will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays (two days a week) from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm at the James City-Bruton Fire Station  (multipurpose room),  3135 Forge Rd, Toano, Va. 23168.

There will be an open license exam session on Saturday, April 19, 2025  at 9:00 a.m. in the same location. For important information about the license exam sessions administered by the WAARC Volunteer Examiners see:  https://www.k4rc.net/testing-sessions/

The class is free. However, there is an administrative fee of $15.00 for the license examination. For class you will need a copy of the Tenth Edition of the ARRL General Class License Manual (GCLM).  You can obtain this manual directly from the ARRL for $32.95 plus tax and shipping at the link below.

You can also obtain the manual from Amazon ($29.66) or other sources. Just make sure it’s the Tenth Edition. The manual can also be ordered through the WAARC education coordinator, Wally, for $26.45 cash (but it won’t be available for a few days after the class starts).  If you have not already registered, send an email to HamRadioClass@yahoo.com indicating your name, call sign, email address, phone number and your wish to enroll in the General class and if you want the manual ordered for you. Contact Wally at HamRadioClass@yahoo.com  with any questions.

Although not required, some students also purchase the Seventh Edition of the ARRL General Q&A Manual.  This manual provides more in-depth explanations of the questions used in the written examination.  You can obtain this manual from the ARRL, Amazon, etc. It’s $14.95 plus tax and shipping from the ARRL at this link:  https://home.arrl.org/action/Store/Product-Details/productId/2009476086
